Nortel Networks adopts Alchemy CATALYST™ as their localization technology standard

Nortel Networks rolls out Alchemy CATALYST™ to all its localization project teams

DUBLIN – January 18, 2002 – Alchemy Software Development, a world leader in localization technology solutions, and Nortel Networks Ltd., the global leader in Internet and communications technology for service providers and enterprises, today announced the adoption and deployment of Alchemy CATALYST™ 4.0 as their standard localization technology solution.

“Selecting Alchemy CATALYST™ 4.0 as our standard technology platform for our localization teams was easy”, said Aidan Collins, Senior Localization Manager at Nortel Networks, “It is widely seen as the industry leader and offers exceptional value in reducing not only translation but engineering and testing costs. After deciding in principle to go with Alchemy CATALYST™ we put it through a series of rigorous tests to ensure it met our specific requirements. We were not disappointed with the results. Our decision to go with CATALYST™ was made easier by the support and training we received from the Alchemy team. They visited our site and give our engineers comprehensive training. Furthermore, they were only a phone call or email away when we needed further help and advice.”

“We're delighted to be able to work closely with Nortel Networks and provide a solution that reduces their lead time to foreign markets by a factor of two”, said Tony O'Dowd, CEO of Alchemy Software Development, “Additionally, since deploying Alchemy CATALYST™ throughout their localization teams and their translation partners, Nortel have experienced cost reductions in the order of 20-50% while improving productivity and product quality on their Meridian Call Centre software products.”

Driven by innovation and breakthroughs in translation technologies, Alchemy CATALYST™ 4.0 boosts speed, improves quality and reduces cost for all professionals involved in the localization workflow. It combines secure editing environments for XML/HTML based applications and web sites with advanced contextual translation memory technology and introduces the fastest and most productive mechanism for translating repetitive text segments, all integrated into a single finely tuned project management environment.
